Guacamole

This classic Guacamole is all about fresh, simple ingredients coming together in a creamy, flavorful dip. Ripe avocados are mashed with bright lime juice and salt, then folded together with diced onion, cilantro, Roma tomatoes, garlic, and a pinch of cayenne for gentle heat. It’s the kind of crowd-pleasing appetizer that comes together in minutes yet tastes like it’s straight from your favorite Mexican restaurant. Perfect with tortilla chips, tacos, burrito bowls, or as a cool, rich topping for grilled meats at RizzieFarms.

Servings: About 1 1/2 cups guacamole
Total Time: 75 min
Pan: Medium mixing bowl

Ingredients

Guacamole
  • 3 avocados, peeled, pitted, and mashed
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 Roma (plum) tomatoes, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper (optional)
Bowl of guacamole garnished with cilantro and served with tortilla chips.

Instructions

  1. Mash avocados with lime and salt In a medium mixing bowl, add 3 peeled, pitted, and mashed avocados, the juice of 1 lime, and 1 teaspoon salt. Mash and stir until the avocados, lime juice, and salt form a mostly smooth base with a few small chunks remaining, if you like it chunky.
  2. Add onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and garlic Stir in 1/2 cup diced onion, 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro, 2 diced Roma tomatoes, and 1 teaspoon minced garlic. Fold everything together until the onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and garlic are evenly distributed throughout the mashed avocado mixture.
  3. Season with cayenne and adjust to taste Add 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper, if using, and mix it into the guacamole until fully incorporated. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime juice as needed.
  4. Chill for best flavor For best flavor, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to minimize browning and refrigerate the bowl for about 1 hour. You can also place 1 avocado pit in the center of the guacamole before covering, which may help slow browning on top.
  5. Serve Stir the 3-avocado guacamole just before serving and transfer to a serving bowl. Enjoy with tortilla chips, tacos, burrito bowls, or as a topping for grilled meats and vegetables.

Notes

  • Keeping plastic wrap pressed directly on the guacamole surface helps prevent browning.
  • For chunkier guacamole, mash the 3 avocados less and leave more pieces intact.
  • If making ahead, add a little extra lime juice to help preserve color.
