Air Fryer Brussel Sprouts with Bacon
Crispy, nutty brussel sprouts tossed in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, air-fried until browned, then finished with smoky bacon and sweet, soft onions. This Breville air fryer version brings out the best flavors of the sprouts—caramelized edges, tender centers, and a savory-sweet glaze—earning a place as one of RizzieFarms’ new favorite side dishes.
Ingredients
Brussel Sprouts
- 20 large brussel sprouts, cleaned, bottom removed, and cut in half
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
Bacon and Onions
- 1/4 pound bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, cut into thin slices
Instructions
-
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. If using a Breville toaster oven, select Air Fryer mode and place the rack on level 4.
-
In a mixing bowl, combine 20 large brussel sprouts (cleaned, bottoms removed, and cut in half), 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper, and 1 pinch cayenne pepper. Toss until all 20 brussel sprout halves are evenly coated in the balsamic mixture.
-
Place the coated brussel sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, reserving any extra balsamic mixture in the bowl to pour over before serving if desired.
-
Air fry the brussel sprouts at 375°F for 7 minutes, then remove the air fryer basket and gently stir or shake the 20 brussel sprout halves so they cook evenly.
-
Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5 minutes at 375°F, or until the brussel sprouts are browned and crispy on the edges.
-
While the brussel sprouts air fry, cook 1/4 pound chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it begins to render and brown.
-
Add 1 thinly sliced medium onion to the skillet with the bacon and cook, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is browned and the onion is soft and translucent.
-
Add the air-fried 20 brussel sprout halves to the skillet with the bacon and onions. Pour any remaining balsamic mixture from the bowl over the brussel sprouts, bacon, and onions, then toss everything together until well coated.
-
Serve the brussel sprouts, bacon, and onions hot, making sure each serving includes plenty of crispy sprouts, smoky bacon, and tender onions with the balsamic glaze.
Notes
- Cooking the brussel sprouts in a single layer helps them crisp up instead of steaming.
- Adjust the pinch of cayenne pepper to taste if you prefer more or less heat.
- Different air fryers can vary; check the brussel sprouts a minute or two early the first time you make this recipe.
- For extra caramelization, air fry 1–2 minutes longer, watching closely to prevent burning.
