Flour Tortillas

Servings: Makes 6, 8, or 12 tortillas

Description: Round, flat unleavened breads that are a foundation of Mexican cooking.

Ingredients:

• 2 C flour
• 1 t salt
• 3 T lard or shortening
• 1/2 C warm water
• Lard or shortening for brushing

Instructions:

1. Mix flour and salt, cut in lard, and add water to form dough.
2. Divide dough and rest 20 minutes.
3. Roll into circles and cook on hot skillet until blistered.
4. Stack with waxed paper between each and cover with damp towel.
