On August 29, 2014, Richard, Vicki, and I celebrated my birthday with a little adventure in the Costa Rican rainforest — zip lining at the Titi Canopy Tour near Quepos.

After getting fitted with helmets, harnesses, gloves, and all the necessary gear, we headed into the lush tropical forest for a series of zip lines high above the ground. From the platforms in the trees, we had a completely different view of Costa Rica, surrounded by dense jungle and tropical vegetation.

It was equal parts exciting and nerve-racking as we clipped onto the cables and launched ourselves from one platform to the next. By the time we finished, we had plenty of laughs, a few stories to tell, and a memorable way to spend my birthday.
